Who we are

PolarCover (“we”, “us”) is operated by a life & health insurance agent licensed in Ontario (FSRA Licence #16155489). We help visitors to Canada, international students, and Canadian travellers compare and apply for travel medical insurance. We are committed to protecting personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial law.

What we collect

• Quote information: age, coverage preferences, travel dates, and whether pre-existing condition coverage is desired. Quotes can be obtained without providing your name or contact details.
• Application information: name, date of birth, gender, email, phone, country of origin, family member details, and any notes you choose to provide.
• Technical information: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) used for security and to improve the site.

We do not collect payment card details on this website, and our chat assistant does not request health details or payment information.

How we use it

• To prepare insurance quotes and process your application for coverage
• To have a licensed advisor review eligibility and confirm your premium
• To place your policy with the product administrator and insurer
• To communicate with you about your application, policy, or questions
• To meet our legal, regulatory, and record-keeping obligations as a licensed agent

Who we share it with

To arrange your coverage, application information is shared with the product administrator (JF Insurance Agency Group Inc.) and the applicable insurer (such as Berkley Insurance Company or Old Republic Insurance Company of Canada), who use it under their own privacy policies. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone else except where required by law or by our regulator.

Storage and retention

Application records are stored securely and retained for as long as required to service your policy and to meet regulatory record-keeping requirements for licensed insurance agents, after which they are securely deleted.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information (subject to records we are legally required to keep), or withdraw consent for future use, by contacting us. You may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
